Biggest and Brightest - The Wolf Moon

Did you all get a look at that moon tonight? It's the biggest and brightest moon we will see all year. Tonight it will be about 14 percent wider and 30 percent brighter than lesser full Moons of the year, according to

As a bonus, Mars will be just to the left of the moon tonight. Look for the reddish, star-like object.

Now I'm not a photographer. I don't have a super cool camera with zoom and telephoto lenses. I just have my little old Kodak EasyShare camera. But even with my camera I was able to take some pretty decent pictures. You can even see Mars which is to the left. I didn't believe it was really Mars, but I took several shots and Mars is always there! You can click on the photos to enlarge them so you can really make out Mars.

I know Mars looks like a little red squiggle, that is because my camera isn't the greatest, but still it's pretty cool. I wish I had taken these pictures earlier when the moon was down lower, I almost had to point the camera straight up into the sky to get these, but I went out to enjoy a Friday night with my sister and we had a great meal and I had a well earned beer! I love Corona with Salt and Lime..Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

I know several of you out there are expert photographers so I hope you got great pictures (I'm talking to you JarieLyn and Stine!)

  1. I was so excited about the full moon tonight. Bummer, its a rainy night in Georgia and the moon can't be seen. Pictures are great.

  2. The moon sure was beautiful Friday night! Good for you for taking photos of it. I wish I had paid a tad more attention to it but we had a guest so I was preoccupied with other things, Hmmmm.

  3. beautiful ! I hate I missed it :o(
thanks for sharing it with us.

  4. When you enlarge the picture you get to see the area surrounding the moon. stunning!
Thanks for sharing such a beauty!

  5. Jeanette - Thanks. I wish I had a fancy camera, but even if I did I'm terrible at learning how to work new

Braley Mama - It was a pretty moon. I'll be down your way this weekend!

Stine in Ontario - Gosh, I should have emailed you or something. I bet your photos would have been super spectacular!

Lena - Well I'm glad that even though you missed it you got to see it through my eyes :-)

DUTA - Aww dear Duta, thank you. I'm so glad you like it and that you were clever enough to enlarge the picture.

  6. That moon was very bright. I zoomed in with my camera and it about blinded me. I had to zoom out a little bit. It was awesome though.

I've been MIA for awhile. I need to catch up on all my blog reading.

  7. I LOVE the way your camera made Mars look like a squiggle! It's wayyy cooler than just a regular 'ole photo.

Great shots...I'd no idea Mars was even visible that day. I'm sorry I missed it.
