15. Ketchup was sold in the 1830's as medicine.

16. Upper and lower-case letters are named 'upper' and 'lower' because in the time when all original print had to be set in individual letters, the 'upper case' letters were stored in the case on top of the case that stored the smaller, 'lower case' letters.

  1. Very interesting list! Some of the items are known to me such as Shirley Mclaine and Warren Beatty being sister and brother; some of them are of no importance to me such as McDonald's profit source.

    Anyway, thanks for sharing.

  2. Some of these are fake. I hate to be the messenger:) Here is a link to snopes( )for the susan lucci one. I didn't check any more. Some are real though:)
Any way it is all interesting:)

  3. Some of these I knew (the liquor-related ones...go figure.) but the rest were very interesting!

I say we find a scorpion and conduct our own experiment. One for him, two for us....

  4. Good Grief Alicia! I thought you were MIA, because your posts weren't showing up in my blog list do-hickey. Glad to see you've been going strong...I've just been missing ya! Now I've got some catch up reading to do on your blog! LOL

  6. Braley Mama - Hey Summur, I was pretty sure some of them were fake but I thought for sure the Susan Lucci one was correct, that would have been awesome don't you think?

  7. Kathryn - I'm all for it, do you have a scorpion? I know I have champagne. If we could just find someone with some raisins that would be great. I figured you of all people would not the alcohol related ones :-)

    That's why you're my hero!

  8. sweetjeanette - Well darn your blog list do-hickey. Yes, I am alive and well and going strong. Glad you found me again :-)

  12. What an intersting list, Alicia. I knew about number 1, 10, 11, and 19. I had no idea that Susan Lucci was Phyllis Diller's daughter. That is a trip. Also, I will definitely have to try chewing gum while chopping onions. My eyes are always burning and watering and I chop onions a lot.

    Great info.
