Sunday Favorites ~ Flannel Rules

I had a very busy day today doing some house cleaning. Aside from doing a really thorough job on the kitchen in preparation for Thanksgiving, I changed the sheets on my bed and since today was cold and overcast, I put my flannel sheets on. So since this is my "Sunday Favorites" post I decided to use a post that I wrote last year on 10/29/2008 about flannel sheets. Hope you enjoy it and please head over to Happy to Design to see what everyone else is sharing.

Sunday Favorites - Post from October 29, 2008

“All I want is a warm bed, a kind word and unlimited power.” Ashleigh Brilliant

Since no one is around to give me a kind word, and the world would be a dangerous place if I had unlimited power, I guess I’ll have to settle for the warm bed cuz brrrrrrr, it’s super cold today! The whole day was gloomy, gray, overcast and foggy. So I figured it was as good a day as any to change the sheets on my bed and put my flannel sheets on.

Flannel sheets are great. They retain your body’s heat and you don’t have that cold sheet feeling when you get into bed. I’ve had my sheets a few years now and due to many washings they’re super warm and soft. The only thing is they’re red penguin sheets. I kid you not.

See…

So I curled up in my electric throw on my computer chair and went shopping for grown up sheets. I found a few grownup ones, but I still like the more playful ones, such as these...
This next one I really like because it's kind of in the middle. It's playful, but yet it could be considered a grown up one. And it's simple and colorful too. I think on a cold dreary day like today it would definitely cheer you up to crawl into these sheets.

And now the grownup ones. My fav is the leaves. I also love the headboard, don't you?

And it's a good thing I went online shopping today because I didn't even know these next sheets existed. These are made out of fleece. Can you imagine how comfortable and warm and cozy these would be? I have a blanket like this, but not a whole sheet set. I'm definitely in the market for this set! Ummm, if anyone reading this will be doing some Christmas shopping for me soon, Umm, I would like these. Hear me Santa?

  1. Hi Alicia,
It is bedtime for me and the thought of climbing into cozy flannel sheets sounds so good. Especially ones with great and fun designs. Unfortunately... I don't have any!!!!!! UGH, now that's all I can think about. Maybe in my dreams. Thanks for the "dreamy" post!

  4. Ah, flannel sheets!!! I use them on our bed year around. In the winter they are warm and snugly, and in the summer they are JUST the right amount of "blanket" for under the air conditioning!!!

    Win Win!!!

I like the kiddie playful prints best too.

  8. Both flannel sheets and flannel pyjamas or nightgown are great in winter.
I do like the sheets without any print. and in light color.

  9. It does get cold on the prairie but I'm not a fan of flannel sheets -- I like the crispness of percale -- but give me a flannel nightgown and a duvet and I'm toasty warm! DD, however, LOVES flannel sheets!

  10. "...at the beep." Funnnnny :)
I vote for the snowman sheets.

I love the coziness of flannel sheets for about 2 days and then the start to get "pilly" I like smooth when I sleep.

  12. I love flannel sheets. Luckily it does get cold enough at night in the winter where I live in southern California to need flannel sheets.

But I need to buy new ones this year as mine as getting pilly.

Thanks for reminding me I need to get some. And I liked the fall leaves one you showed the best.

  13. Hi Alicia...

Girl, I'm in the mood for flannel sheets too! Hehe! You can only imagine just how cold these Colorado winters get! I have to admit that I don't own a pair but I have shopped for some on a few occasions...just never followed through with the purchase! After reading your fabulous post...I think I need to go shopping again! You know, I have fibromyalia...it's pretty severe and the cold just "hurts" me soooo bad! Getting into the bed at night and laying on those cold sheets nearly send me over the edge. I didn't realize that the flannel sheets don't feel cold like that! Girl, you've SOLD me that's for sure!

Now...after looking at all of the beautiful choices that you put up in your post...I think the leaves are my favorite too! I love anything with a pretty leaf design on it! I'm wondering since this post is from last year...if they are still available? Do you remember where they were at?

Anyway...I love, love, LOVE this post that you decided to share with us today for Sunday Favorites! I think you've just saved my "old bones" a few aches!!! Hehe! Thank you so much for joining in with the fun of Sunday Favorites this week, my friend!

    Warmest wishes,
    Chari

PS...By the way, which set of flannel sheets did you buy? Hehe!

  14. Alicia, I don't know what it is about you, but you sure do make me smile. Your posts are so delightful and I just love your personality. Those leaf sheets are really pretty and Yes, I do like the headboard too.

I hope you are warm and cozy tonight.

  15. I just had to say that I saw the picture of the red penguin flannel sheets that you have and I had that same set!!! The funny thing is that my daughter when she was about 2 she adopted the flat sheet as her "blankee" and when that died I ended up having to give up the fitted sheet to her.
