Who Do I Love - Mike Rowe

Last night I watched...well I half watched...ok, I one-third watched a new show by Mike Rowe, the man all men want to be and the man all women want to be with! No? You don't want to be or be with Mike? Well I do! Ok, I don't want to be Mike Rowe but I wouldn't mind being with him, he's gorgeous! (My sister wouldn't come near him with a ten-foot pole! Because he's dirty!) But me, I don't mind a little dirt on my man, especially when he looks like Mike! Yowza! The new show he was on last night was the Curiosity Show and his episode was titled World's Dirtiest Man. Go and check it out. Here's what the promo says about the show:

"We shower, we bathe, we apply perfumes and deodorants. We're cleaner and healthier than at any other point in human history. So it may be surprising to learn there are 10 times more things living on you than cells in your body. From the flora of our guts to the fauna on our skin and hair, this episode explores the wildlife park that is the human body in stunning, microscopic detail - combining the creativity of natural history filmmaking with the charisma of Discovery's very own Mike Rowe."

I have to say, the show was a little gross and disgusting. I actually would have watched it all but I had a super busy weekend and no naps on my couch so by 9:15 pm I was falling asleep. If you've never heard of Mike Rowe, then I'm sorry for you. I'm even making a sad face for you right now :-( because he's fabulous. He does a show called Dirty Jobs where he spends a day doing some of our countries dirtiest jobs in order to show us what some people will do and put up with just to give all of us the quality of life we're accustomed to. He spends time in sewers, under houses, on pig farms; you name it, he's done it. So if you get a chance pop over to The Discovery Channel and check out some of his videos.

And just cause I love you all and I want you to drool on you keyboard like I've done just now, here's a short video of someone asking Mike random questions. I don't even know what he said I just sat here drooling and sighing *sigh*.

Hopefully the little link here works and you can see this short video.

Who Do I Love?

You know who I love? Ann Curry. For those living under a rock that have never watched TV, Ann Curry is the News Anchor on my favorite morning show, which airs on NBC...The Today Show.

On Friday, September 19, 2009, NBC aired an interview which Ann Curry did with the president of Iran, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. I didn't get to hear much of it as I had to head to work, but today I went to NBC's website and listened to a little bit of it and then just read the transcripts instead as it distracts me to hear the President talking and his interpreter talking as well.

She asked some very valid and brave questions and to me got a lot of avoidance and double talk by the president.

It is not only because of this interview that I think she's brave or that makes me love her. But because of many other interviews she has done. She's also had some daring adventures. Last year in November she made it to the absolute end of the earth after trying for eight days. Ann made it to the South Pole and at 1am New York time she did a live feed by satellite in which she said,

“We can feel the altitude,” Curry reported. “I can feel all the moisture on my face freezing as I’m speaking to you. We’re the first NBC News team to make it to the South Pole. We’re feeling really lucky. The sun is shining. It’s absolutely beautiful here. It’s flat. Lots of great people. We were actually, if you can believe it, greeted by ‘Welcome Ann’ signs. I can’t believe that.”

Ann also cut her hair...for charity. Ann grew out her hair specifically for the reason of donating 10 inches of her beautiful, gorgeous, jet black hair to Locks of Love, the charity that makes wigs for children who've lost hair because of alopecia. There's a beautiful video of Ann, her daughter, and her daughters friends as they all donate their hair and you can see it here.

For so many reasons, I love Ann Curry. She always gets my day off to a great start and she's my hero!

Who I Love

You know who I love?

I love Bobby Flay. Bobby Flay from the Food Network, thats who I love.

I don't know if you guys watch the Throwdown's very often but I'm always thrilled when I catch one.

The other night I caught a throwdown with the Brooklyn Chowder Surfer and it was so cute and funny and Bobby was so gorgeous!!! He lost the throwdown, sorry to give away the ending, but there never was a cuter loser than Bobby.

Here's part one of the Chowder throwdown. The Chowder Surfer is pretty darn cute too! Hope you enjoy.

Cousins ~ Different beautiful flowers from the same garden

"A cousin is a little bit of childhood that can never be lost."
Author: Marion C. Garretty

I received a lovely little surprise in the mail today from my cousin Stella, and I wanted to share it with you.

Stella took a road trip this summer for about a month. She first started this annual tradition with her husband Ron who sadly passed away a few years ago. She and Ron had great adventures, stopping at different little antique shops and always on the lookout for Carl's Jrs or Hardees for Stella's huge addiction to Dr. Pepper or Coke. Not sure which and whether it was regular or diet, but I know it was the caffeine!

This year Stella found this cute little sign that is perfect for my wine/grape themed kitchen. Don't you love it?

I found a nice little spot for it already right next to my kitchen hutch. Right now I have a garland of daisies but I've been looking for a garland of grapes and grapes leaves. Most of the ones I find are too sparse and unnatural looking...but this is not Iwanna Wednesday, so let me get on with the thanking of my wonderful cousin Stella!

Thank you so much Stella! I love it and it gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling to know that you thought of me on your trip! We don't always tell people what we think about them until we eulogize them at their funeral and whats the point then right?

I want you to know that you are the first person that ever put makeup on me when you lived in that house in Poston on the ranch. I felt so grown up when you put eyeshadow and mascara on me and I think that is where my love of makeup first began.

You also took me to my first high school basket ball game where I got to see Oscar Soliz play and I have to admit I had a huge crush on him during my whole high school years.

You also are the reason for my love of country music. I can remember you driving back from that game and singing country music and that song Proud Mary. I can't ever hear Proud Mary and not think of you.

I know that most of the time we go through our lives never realizing how our lives touched others. You touched my life and my heart; my beautiful cousin and I love you dearly.

Coffee - $24.96 a Gallon

You know who I love?
I love Starbucks coffee. Love it!
Back before I bought my house I would get a Starbucks coffee every single day.
Every day!
My poison of choice? A Venti Breve Latte with one Splenda!
Mmmmm, so creamy and warm and delicious, perfectly sweet, but not too sweet. I just wanted to kiss it and hug it and marry it!!

Then, I bought my house and I heard a guy on the radio talking about what Whiners we Americans are and how we whine about the price of food and gas and a gallon of milk when the whole time we are spending $30 a gallon on coffee.

WHAT? WHERE? WHEN? ME?
Yep, me.
If you figure that my Venti Breve Latte with One Splenda was 20 ounces and cost me $3.90 per day, and it takes 128 ounces to fill a gallon then I would have to buy 6.4 Venti Breve Lattes with One Splenda to fill a gallon and 6.4 x $3.90 = $24.96.

I was buying coffee at $24.96 per gallon! And at $3.90 per day x 5 day work weeks x 50 weeks (estimating two weeks vacation) = $975.00 per year!

It put everything in perspective for me and now I brew my own coffee every morning at home.

Do I miss my barista? Yes I do. He knew me the minute I drove up to the drive thru and he would always say, "Good morning, Venti Breve Latte with One Splenda this morning?" And I felt like I belonged, like someone loved me and worshipped me and wanted to make sure that my every desire was met. I don't know, maybe $24.96 a gallon wasn't so much to pay for such a great feeling.

What's your big splurge and could you live without it?

Who I Love

You know who I love?
I love Matt Lauer.
Absolutely love the man!
I love that he's so down to earth and normal and seems like a genuinely nice guy.

I've watched him almost every single morning since he replaced Bryant Gumbel on the Today Show and he's always the same. A bit more handsome perhaps, but still always professional, friendly, polite and genuine.

I've watched several interviews he has done. Serious ones, funny ones, surprising ones and they are always interesting. I love his "Where in the World is Matt Lauer" segments, they're inspiring, uplifting, educational and at times leaves me with tears in my eyes and hope for the world.

I love Matt Lauer!
