I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
~Joyce Kilmer, "Trees", 1914
Linking up to Mosaic Monday hosted by Mary at Little Red House.
A thing of beauty is well worth waiting for. What a pretty mosaic!
ReplyDeleteA poem is the creation of a human being whereas a tree is the creation of God, so there can be no comparison between the two.
ReplyDeleteLovely poem with rhyme and rythm! The tree in the picture provides a suitable background to the words of the poem.
First I have to tell you I am Lovin lovin lovin your header!!! How cute and colorful.
ReplyDeleteLove the poem -- it is very nice.
Have a wonderful week and enjoy the beauty around you.
Claudia
How beautiful! Our trees here in Florida have looked like 'Fall' these past few weeks, too! Happy Monday! ♥
ReplyDeleteTree leaves changing now? This time of year we don't even know what a tree leaf IS around here!
ReplyDeletePondside - That fits so perfectly...a thing of beauty is well worth waiting for. Thanks for commenting.
ReplyDeleteDUTA - I totally agree with you DUTA, definitely the poet was no fool and I've always enjoyed that poem just as much as I've enjoyed trees and nature.
ReplyDeleteClaudia@DipityRoad - Thanks Claudia for the compliment on my header. The little guy does make me smile :-D
ReplyDeleteLavender Dreamer - I guess Florida and California both have to wait a long time for it to look like "Fall"! Thanks for visiting.
ReplyDeleteKeetha Broyles - I know...unbelievable that leaves are barely changing here. When everyone else was decorating their home for Fall and carving pumpkins it was still 98 degrees around here!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful poem, thank you for sharing it. Great mosaic. Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite poems! Lovely tree and leaves. Beautiful gold!
ReplyDeleteOh Alicia, how beautiful! It looks like a carpet of gold! Love the poem, too. :)
ReplyDeleteA Garden of Threads - I'm glad you enjoyed the poem, have a wonderful week as well.
ReplyDeleteSnap - It is a lovely poem isn't it?
ReplyDeleteMary - It is a carpet of gold. I love seeing leaves on the ground. They didn't last long though because my mom hates seeing leaves :-(
ReplyDeleteBeautiful carpet of yellow, which just so happens to be my favorite color. Hope that you enjoyed raking.
ReplyDeleteI always loved that poem! And your mosaic is beautiful! Great shots!
ReplyDeletebeautiful ♥
ReplyDeleteVee - I'm lucky that my son did all the raking for me that day, but I did go out and rake them up and let my daughters puppy run through them then I would rake them up again. She loved making a mess and it was good exercise for me!
ReplyDeleteBraley Mama - Thanks Summur. I hear you had snow?
ReplyDeleteCarol - Oops...I went out of order. Thank you so much. It was nice to get outside and take some pictures finally. That actually was a gloriously warm day!
