I Can't Adult Today

This is how I feel today!

Remember how when we were kids we just wanted to be grown up? To be like our parents, no one telling you what to do, what to eat, when to go to bed? Ahhh, that was the dream.

Well I'm living the dream folks and gotta say, "It's not all it's cracked up to be!"

Not too long ago my car died. I think this was back in April. So I had to get a new car. After more than 10 years of having no car payment, I had a car payment!

Then our cooler caught on fire on August, we were lucky that we caught it before it caused damage to the roof or burned the whole house down, but I had to get a new cooler!

And now...our refrigerator has given out! So tomorrow it's refrigerator shopping! When it rains it pours.

I guess everyone in my household is getting a refrigerator for Christmas! Hahaha! Oh well, what can you do. Take the hits as they come and keep on keeping on, right?

But sometimes it does suck to be an adult and I remember back to when I couldn't wait to be an adult. Can you imagine all the problems that my parents had and on top of that they had to deal with me? I guess I can't complain.

  1. Wow, that is a lot of buying. Thank you for contributing to the health of the economy! Seriously though, I hope that this spate of bad luck passes soon and that you have a happy and healthy rest of the year

    1. Hahaha Heidi, that's a great way of looking at it, contributing to the economy! My family is doing more than it's share, my sister also had to buy a fridge, a washer, a stove and a new lap top! As long as we are all healthy I guess I shouldn't complain!

  2. Well, at least you are alive to have all these adult problems! I hope this is the end of your adult moments and you can have some fun.

    1. Thanks Rebecca. The holidays are usually pretty fun around here so at least we have that, and you are right, at least we are alive and healthy.

  3. Ahhh. I know the feeling. I keep on asking my wife, when exactly is it that we get to do what ever we want? It hasn't happened yet. Probably when the time comes, it will be an illusion because we are senile.

Regarding your fires, cars, and refrigerators, shit happens. When it ceases to happen you are dead. Enjoy the shit while it is happening. Hell Alicia it is only money.

    1. That's the one good point about senility is the illusion of what is.

One of my favorites quotes was Lifes hard and then you die, but of course we fit in a whole lot of good stuff in between. Nice to see you commenting Sextant!

    2. Your comment reminds me of the second hospital scene in the movie Meet Joe Black. The Jamaican woman gets Joe to admit that he is on vacation from his normal job (death) and that he has fallen in love with Susan Parrish. She then says to him:

"It nice it happen to you. It like you came to Cat Island and you had a holiday, sun didn't burn you red, just brown, sleep no mosquito eat you, rum no poung you head nex' day. But trut' is, dat bound to happen, you stay long enough. So tak dat nice picture home wi' you, but don' be fooled. We lonely here mostly, too. If we lucky, we got some nice pictures."
