Puppy Rescue in Bakersfield

It seems that things that happen in Bakersfield never make national news! But I really thought that this story should have. I wish I could have found the original video showing the firefighters pictures while they cut through the pipe to rescue this puppy, but I could only find this follow-up.

In the original video they mention how difficult it was to protect the puppy while they cut the pipe to rescue him/her. They worried that the pipe might get too hot so another firefighter put his hands through the back side wrapping the puppy in a towel to protect it.

The gentleman who found the trapped puppy said that his wife saw the momma dog with a bunch of puppies in the area and she looked hungry so she told her husband they should take the momma dog some food. Good thing they did as that's how they found the trapped puppy!



A happy ending. Hopefully someone wonderful will adopt the rescued puppy and his brothers and sisters and especially the poor momma dog!

Mosaic Monday - Photo Shoot

I've been dying to put together a mosaic of a photo shoot my daughter April scheduled for her Shih-Poo puppy Chorizo. This was in May of this year but I've just now gotten all the photos downloaded and the mosaics put together.

Chorizo is hard to photograph as she tends to always look away from the camera at the precise time you hit the button to take the picture. Not sure how this photographer did it, but he took some really beautiful pictures.

I was amazed at how well behaved she is, the secret is that while the photographer was taking the pictures, my daughter was holding up treats. That's what Chorizo is staring at so intently!

But hours and hours of posing and smiling for the camera can bring out the bad side of even someone as adorable as dear little Chorizo, as witnessed by these photos taken by the paparazzi!

I took these photos this weekend when I had lunch with my son Jim and my daughter April at a truck stop restaurant just outside of Shafter. My daughter was heading home in her Uhaul with her puppy Chorizo. That's the puppy sticking his tongue out at my camera in the photo above.

Just as we got to the truck stop and stepped out of the car there was this incredible rainbow. Thankfully I had my camera with me! Be sure to click on the photos above to enlarge.
