I try to live and let live, but sometimes I see things that just irk me! I usually just let it go because again..I live and let live. But at times I sure would like to smack some people upside the head for being irritating!
I've posted before about all the weird things that go on in the women’s restroom in the building where I work. I can’t believe that these women think their mother works here so it’s ok to just throw paper and towels and junk on the floor expecting someone to clean up after them. C’mon! We’re grown women!!!
Then there are the women that like to chat on the phone… in the stall… while they are doing their business! Do they really not care that the person on the other side of the line can hear them urinating…or worse? And do they really not care that the other person can hear complete strangers urinating …or worse?? Not to mention how inconsiderate they are to only allow me to hear one side of the conversation!
But I think my biggest pet peeve are the women that use their employer’s time to groom at work.
Now we all check our hair and our teeth and at times apply another coat of lipstick. I’m talking about the women that on a daily basis bring a miniature suitcase to work and then go into the bathroom and pluck their eyebrows, curl their hair, apply deodorant, apply makeup, brush their teeth and believe it or not…clip and polish their toenails.
This is in the public women’s bathroom! During working hours! Do these women just roll out of bed, smelling like yesterday, putting on whatever clothes they find on the floor and take off to work and clock in then proceed to the ladies restroom to groom themselves and prepare themselves for the day?
I would love an extra hour of sleep, but I can’t see coming to work sans makeup and without showering and brushing my hair and then using the time my employer is paying me for to prepare myself to be presentable to get to work! Don't they realize that on top of being lazy they are stealing? Stealing the time their employer is paying them to work?
I realize that a lot of people think that is archaic...to worry about using work hours to groom or do personal stuff, but I was brought up old school and I've always tried to live by my favorite motto, "Integrity is what you do when no one is watching". Well ladies...there are quite a few of you that work in this building that definitely lack integrity!
So that's it for my rant, what's your pet peeve?
ja ja ja ja ja!!! I'm gonna print this and post on the bathroom wall of the building. Both bathrooms. I love it. Now do one for the meetings held in the hallway. Those are so annoying when you are trying to walk down the hallway and these group of people decide to have their meeting in the hallway. Excuse me, you have your office. That's my pet peeve.
ReplyDeleteYep, that's another pet peeve! And they are so rude to just stand there. So the women are grooming in the bathroom and the men are cluttering up the hallway with their meetings and you and I are just burras...lol. Working our little fingers to the bone!
DeleteI never spent much time in the crappers and couldn't tell you what goes on. In the ladies room, I spent zero time so I can't say that I share your peeve, but agree with the sentiment of it. I must confess a certain amusement of digital radio pulses of urination being sent to cell towers and satellites. I can see 3 headed aliens hunched over the receivers and computer display at some secret facility on the planet Zork, listening to high pitched tinkelings and puzzling over what it could be.
ReplyDeleteI do have to agree with Angie, I found hallway meetings especially at doorways to be extremely irritating. Ha Ha! A thing of the past now. Retirement is great.
Don't be rubbing that retirement stuff in our faces! We aren't all as blessed as you are :)
DeleteWell I can see the aliens on the planet Zork being confused by the high pitched tinkelings, but imagine what they must think of ladies passing gas? I feel sorry for those poor aliens!
You would be amazed at the stuff that goes on now in offices Sextant. It's not like back in the day. The cell phone has changed everything! I've blogged about it before, but I am amazed that anything gets done at all during the day!
My BIGGEST pet peeve is those patents that decide to go on vacation from parenting while at a restaurant! They let their kids roam wild and free so that they are not bothered with them while they eat. expecting the staff to care for them or keep from running into them while they carry heavy trays of food! Please parents (and you know who you are!) If you don't want to be bothered with your kids then don't take them and find a babysitter! If you can't afford a babysitter then you can't afford to go out period! Now for those of you who are going to say (and I know you will) She must not have kids! As a matter of fact I have two! I took care of business at home to make sure there were no behavior problems in public.
ReplyDeleteOh I hear ya! I have to say, you have two of the best behaved children I've ever met. I have eaten with you and them several times and I never had to smack any of them, so you know they are well behaved :)
DeleteYeah, parents that just let their kids do whatever are a pet peeve of mine too. When I worked at the funeral home and we had visitation in the evening you would be amazed how the kids would be running around breaking things and climbing on stuff. The mothers mourning and weeping in the chapel and the dad's drinking beer and laughing in the parking lot.
You should have to get a permit to be allowed to have children! But then you would be bringing the government in to yet another aspect of our lives and I know people would just hate that. Thanks for commenting Raelynn!!! :)
I have done janitorial work and its so sad to say women are way nastier than men...my pet peeve is slurping and stupid people...lim
ReplyDeleteHi lim!
DeleteCoffee slurping is a bad one. Gum chewing is even worse! Stupid people? I'm with you on that one too. Not the ignorant ones that just don't know better, but the stupid ones that don't even try! And people wearing pajamas out in public...I could go on and on! Thanks for commenting!
I am with you! I, fortunately have not experienced and of this, but would be soooo grossed out if I did. I like Angie's idea.
ReplyDeleteI've always worked for smaller companies where there is just one bathroom for men and one for women, not one with multiple stalls. You would not believe how messy women are. They get stuff everywhere and don't seem to care. The mother in me comes out at times and I pick up wet paper towels, used dental floss and gum wrappers all the time. We need a bathroom attendant!
DeleteLOL! This goes on all the time in the Philippines. You go into a restroom in any mall and the sinks are staked out by various mall employees brushing teeth, doing hair, applying makeup, washing face, etc etc. Its so annoying.
ReplyDeleteLol! It happens all the time here in the Philippines. I've gotten used to sharing the sink with a makeup applying employee or several. It's just a fact of life here. What really gets my goat is when women pee all over the seat and then don't wipe it off. Ick. Course, we are fortunate to get a toilet seat here, and only the very best malls include toilet tissue in bathrooms. I carry my own tissue.
ReplyDeleteWow! I guess there is no reason for me to be complaining then...lol. Amazing how really lucky we are in the U.S. I love all your stories and pictures. Thanks so much for reading and commenting my childhood friend :)
DeleteI think we're all nodding our heads to this one! No, you don't sound archaic - just very, very sensible.
ReplyDeleteWell thank you. Sometimes I wonder if I'm only getting upset because I'm getting older! Ha! But have you noticed that there is no customer service anymore? Or maybe that's just in California. Almost any store you go into the employees are talking to teach other or texting or complaining and you never get a thank you, how are you, come back soon! It's disheartening! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteWell, you know what they say: 'Everyday we go to - work (noun), not to work (verb)'.
ReplyDeleteI remember the days when I would go to work just to get a break from the weekend with kids! Ha! DUTA, I have missed you! So glad to hear from you and I hope all is well in your neck of the world!
