Read my Lips!

I was born with a small mouth.

I know - I know, those of you that know me know me as a big mouth! But I mean my mouth physically is small, just a lot of big and lengthy words, opinions and observations come out of it!

I've always hated my mouth and would lust after women with big, beautiful, pouty, red lips!

Lips that actually look great with bright red lipstick or no lipstick at all. Lips that look luscious with just a clear hint of gloss.

I've even envied all those people who post photos on facebook of what is called duck face or kissy lips. Alas...my small mouth will not allow me to make that gorgeous little pout :-(

I remember once telling my daughter (who has big, beautiful, gorgeous, luscious lips!) that someday I was going to go to a doctor and have them suck fat out of my butt and inject it into my lips so that I could purposely say to her, "Kiss my butt" and literally she would be kissing my butt.

She never thought this was funny.

Will I ever have the money to get those big lips? Probably not, but I will always lust after them.

What one area on your body would you change if you could?

This post was inspired by In Stitches, this month's selection at From Left to Write. Anthony Youn's memoir In Stitches gives readers a look into the training of a medical doctor who discovers his passion is plastic surgery. As a member of From Left to Write book club, I received a copy of this book for review. You can read other members posts inspired by In Stitches by Anthony Youn, M.D. on book club day, August 9 at From Left to Write.

  1. I wouldn't change anything not because I'm perfect, far from it, but because I'm afraid of plastic surgery of any kind, and because I value health more than beauty.

  2. DUTA - I think that if I had the means to do something about my lips or other parts of my body I wouldn't do it either because of the surgery involved...but it's nice to dream and wish and want. But you are so correct my friend, health is so much more valuable than beauty. I wish you much, much health cause you're already beautiful to me :-)

  3. I'll keep my wrinkles and pouches, but that doesn't mean I don't dream of the days before gravity launched its attack!

  4. This book looks like one that I'd enjoy. Thanks for the recommendation.

I'd get my nose fixed if I had plastic surgery.

  5. Pondside - You and me both. Oh to have my wrinkle free eyelids again. I love shimmery eye shadows and it just doesn't look as pretty when the shimmer settles in the wrinkles! :0(

  6. Paula - I hope you enjoy the book, it was very funny and inspiring. I guess we all have something we don't like about ourselves right? You, your nose and me, my mouth!

  7. I would get all of my fat sucked out, well not all but a lot of it :O) And give me some boobies :O)
My daughter has big lips like her daddy, and I also have none:O( But they work so that's good! LOL

  8. Braley Mama - I've heard the fat sucking really hurts! I think at this point I would also have a face lift...lol. But that's just wishful thinking.

  9. When I think of plastic surgery or even botox, I feel that we are not being thankful towards our creator.
Accidents or even disfiguration at childbirth to the extent of disfunction certainly deserves the attention of the doctors, but common, just for the fun of it?

  10. Munir - Your comment made me stop to think. While I agree with you that accidents or disfiguration deserves attention, some plastic surgery or botox in order to make ourselves more self-confident and happy is not a bad thing. For example braces? Not everyone is born with perfect teeth, but if they can be fixed...why not? Certainly some people go to extremes in changing their whole appearance, but those are usually people with different issues than just a lack of self-confidence or the need to feel prettier. Thank you for commenting, I appreciate that my post gave you some thought and that you shared your valuable opinion!

  11. Hi Alicia, Looks like I got my computer back on a good post...lol...My most miserable part of my body is my 4'11" height. If I was taller I would automatically be thinner and people would see me on the other side of the deli counter and I would not have to yell "HELLO"! As you can tell I have issues so maybe I need my lips plumped with butt pat too...lol..Take care.

  12. I'm not asking for plastic surgery- just surgery so I don't sprain my ankles all the time! ;) But maybe brain surgery? I'm pretty sure the left side of my brain (the logical one) has been broken since birth.

    Hope you are doing well!

  13. I have thin lips these days? Where did THAT fat go? How come the fat in my butt or hips doesn't go away? HUH?
Hope you're doing fine in sunny CA. hugs, Sue

  14. I would get a brain transplant from some really smart person. But, Hmmmm! some really smart person would end up with an ugly wore out body, wretched face, trashed knees, and a bad back and I would be where? Certainly not in the smart person's brain. High moral standards prevent me from doing this to some poor smart person.

Alicia, you are a rather lovely woman, never fix that which does not need fixed.

  15. Donnie - I know what you mean. I always say I'm not chubby, I'm just short...lol.

  16. Della - You young lady sprain you ankles because you have way too much on your plate! Between school and those goats and blogging and crafting and cooking, whew...I'm tired just thinking about it all.

  17. Sue - I've always had thin lips...they've just gotten thinner with age. But I know what you mean about those hips and thighs!

  18. Sextant - Awww, thanks so much. Don't you even think of exchanging your brain!! Your smartness mixed in with your compassion is what makes you YOU!
