Buck is kind of a big thing here in Bakersfield and at his restaurant they serve a chicken fried steak with gravy that takes up the whole plate! It is super good there but the one Pioneer Woman makes can give them a run for their money.

This was a pretty good Riesling, I enjoyed it and will have to pick up another bottle soon. If they don't sell it, you are SOL. I'll have to look for it but I have a ton of wine laying around now and at a glass a week it doesn't move fast. Yes I am not into la-dee-da wine, in fact my favorite is good old Gallo Industrial Grade White Zinfandel from the horse urinals of Modesto. It doesn't give me a head ache.

Sextanthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02869179401767968180noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4567723504977931374.post-23808463535089827242014-09-04T13:45:59.902-07:002014-09-04T13:45:59.902-07:00I do love pinot grigio!!!!! If you can find it, and I'm sure you can, you should try the Cavit Collection Pinot Grigio. You can find it at Target, believe it or not. Not a super expensive la-dee-da kinda wine, just a delicious, inexpensive wine and you can taste the apple in it. I love that one! I also like the Mirrassou brand. Sounds like a great combination tomato-cucumber salad with a dry white wine! Yum!Aliciahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18196096131750922174noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4567723504977931374.post-12971088532865638512014-09-04T11:53:39.131-07:002014-09-04T11:53:39.131-07:00Have you ever tried pinot grigio, it is a white, a...Have you ever tried pinot grigio, it is a white, a California variant of pinot gris. Much drier than Reisling but not totally dry.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinot_gris

I just had a glass with a tomato and cucumber salad and it was excellent. She really enjoyed this dish though. It may become a Sunday tradition.

I googled schawarma chicken and that looks delicious! We have a Greek Festival here once a year and I went once and they had the vertical spit chicken and served it in a roll that seemed like a pita bread with a cucumber dressing on it. It was fabulous and now I'm craving it!

I just googled the festival and oh my goodness...it's this weekend!! I'm going to make it a point to go and have this delicacy again. Don't you just love food? I can't understand why my mom doesn't have the same love for it! http://www.stgeorgebakersfield.org/greek-food-festival/

Aliciahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18196096131750922174noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4567723504977931374.post-2036849183632329242014-09-04T08:02:11.072-07:002014-09-04T08:02:11.072-07:00Green beans are probably my least favorite, but so...Green beans are probably my least favorite, but so easy to make. I prefer broccoli and zucchini. But you should try them fresh sauteed with garlic and almonds in just a bit of bacon fat...YUM!

I figured that you would like this dish, minus the cayenne, but you have to pepper chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes, that's what gives it that awesome flavor! I'm going to have to make this again real soon. (I peeled the breading off of my piece. Tons of carbs with all that flour!)

The wine was very good. A little sweet for my taste but for some reason it really hit the spot that day. I have to admit though, yours look yummy. Leave the cayenne pepper and half the black pepper out, and I believe you would have a meal suitable for an Irishman.

Nice looking wine BTW.
